Outstanding Palliative Care Resources Available for Borrowing

Through the generous contributions of the grateful family and friends of Helen R. Nash, and a grant from the Project on Death in America Social Work Leadership Project, the Center for Health Ethics and Law has established the Helen R. Nash Memorial Library. Prior to her death, Mrs. Nash had been seen by the Morgantown Regional Palliative Care Team.With the encouragement of the family, educational materials on Palliative Care have been purchased for use by health care professionals and the public in West Virginia. The Nash Memorial Library holdings include best-selling books on death and dying, the Bill Moyers' Public Broadcasting Series, “On Our Own Terms,” other video tapes on advance care planning and grieving, and brochures for the public on what they should know about pain and its treatment.Some of the books available for loan include:Tuesdays With Morrie by Mitch Albom, East of the Mountains by David Guterson, Dying Well:Peace and Possibilities at the End of Life by Ira Byock, and Handbook for Mortals:Guidance for People Facing Serious Illness by Lynn and Harrold.A complete list of the holdings is available from the Center for Health Ethics and Law (call the toll free number 877-209-8086) or by clicking on the Library holdings link.

Library Holdings

There is no charge for borrowing the end-of-life resources from the library. If you would like to borrow a resource from the Nash Library, please email Linda McMillen at lmcmillen@hsc.wvu.edu. Resources are on loan for a two week period unless a longer time is specifically requested and agreed upon.
